How the book came about
Authors Michelle Kidwell, Karen Vidra and Karla Dorman decided that it was time they write a book about not only living with a disability, but living with a disability as a Christian this book not only deals with the issues of the disabled though, but with the issues of all Christians...
Authors Michelle Kidwell, Karen Vidra and Karla Doman has put together a collection on articles on dealing with faith and living with a disability, this inspirational little book is due out sometime this year. Michelle R Kidwell is author of Reflections On Life, and A Collection of Memories both collections of Inspiratioanal Poetry..
Karen Vidra:
my influences come from personal experiences or from things i have observed first-hand. i have some college in my background (two years), gruaduated from high school way back in 1979. Also, my two older sisters were good at writing, and even though we had our problems in getting along, I still admired their writing. Both had exceptional verbal, cognitive, and reasoning skills (both were exceptionally gifted, and did things well). I think it was because of this that I, too, eventually, would learn to love (and appreciate) the art of writing. But the MOST important influence of my writing is Jesus Christ, as He gave me this Gift (September 11, 2001). He allowed me to open up and grieve and, in time, heal. So, Jesus, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!! You have TRULY BLESSED ME in a BIG WAY!!!!

ANSWER THE QUESTION: HOW. DID. YOU. BECOME. A. WRITER??
I've always enjoyed reading. Even when I got busted for it in second grade. Let me explain: I'd gone for an eye examination and had my eyes dilated. Back in those days, you had to wear dark protective glasses after the
exam to protect your eyes from any light. The exam was in the morning, I had to go to school. It was very boring, sitting there with nothing to do...so I picked up a book and propped the bottom of the glasses up with a finger, so I could read. Teacher caught me and I got in trouble.
WHAT'S THIS HAVE TO DO WITH WRITING?????
I loved to read, why couldn't I be a writer? I'd try the poetry thing in school; it didn't fly. I'd try the journal and diary thing; the project would quickly become abandoned when I got bored. Needless to say, I learned to hold everything in and became angry and bitter.
SO THAT STILL DOESN'T EXPLAIN...OH, NEVER MIND.
Wait! Don't go!
Then came September 11, 2001. On that dark day of horror and devastation, one life was saved: MINE. I was given my Gift (as I call my writing) as a means to express myself. I have just passed my 1,000th poem. I haven't stopped, and don't plan on it any time soon. As long as I can bend my arthritic fingers around a pen or type on a keyboard, you'll see me, writing. :-)
